Daylight Savings, Bowls, A Party, and Worship!
Hello Friends,
First of all–a reminder–This Sunday is the START OF DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME! Spring your clocks forward an hour on Saturday night, and you’ll be sure to be on time for the service!
This weekend’s calendar:
Saturday March 10
9 am-noon–Bowl Painting for the “Bread Line Supper” at
Bruce Locke’s house (See below for more information and directions)
5-8 pm–“Chase away the winter blues” social gathering for one and all
at the Taylors’ home in Plainfield (again, see below)
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME BEGINS!
Sunday March 11
9am–Adult Choir Rehearsal in the Sanctuary
10am–Worship Service & RE
Monday March 12
7pm–Book Discussion Group (in the Parsonage, I believe) Discussing “Under the Banner of Heaven” by John Krakauer
So, if you haven’t painted a bowl yet for the Bread Line supper to benefit the Food Shelf, you have one more chance–tomorrow (Saturday) morning at Bruce Locke’s studio at his and Clyde’s house just off Jenneville Road in Hartland.
The Bread Line Supper will take place on Saturday March 24, and will give you the opportunity to buy a bowl (one of the ones painted with or by Bruce), to share some good soup and bread, and to support the Hartland Food Shelf. If you’re willing to make some bread or soup for that event, please let Bruce or Jill Lloyd know.
Bruce & Clyde’s house is at 27 Dodge Lane. To get there, go to Jenneville Road, about a mile and a half towards Brownsville from the church on the Brownsville-Hartland Road. Continue up the muddy Jenneville road for 2.5-3 miles. You’ll see an uninhabited yellow trailer on the side of the road, and Dodge Lane is the next road on the right. Their driveway is the first one on the left on Dodge Lane. Bruce says be careful–it’s not the snowmobile trail–it’s the next one, the first real driveway. All are welcome.
Tomorrow (Saturday) evening, I hope that you’re planning to join us at Sue and Dave Taylor’s house at 158 Freeman Road in Plainfield. All are welcome. There is supervision for young children and plenty of activities for children and youth. This is a “casual potluck,” meaning bring a dish or desert or anything if you like, but please don’t feel obligated to do so. If you need further directions, you could contact Dave and Sue.
(A side note–I’m always reluctant to put lots of personal contact information in these messages, because we send them all over. If you don’t have a congregational directory, let me know and I can get you one, or get you in touch with the right people!).
Sunday there’s adult choir rehearsal at 9 and our regular service at 10. I’ll be leading worship, and we’ll be exploring the second half of the Affirmation of the Covenant that we use every week in our worship.
Finally–make a note on your calendar–next Sunday, March 18, the Religious Education Circle will be hosting a “Listening Session” about our RE program as we begin our search process for a new Director of Religious Education. Dan Lambert will facilitate this discussion, which will simply be an opportunity for anyone in the community to share thoughts, hopes and dreams, for our programs for children. You can also share any thoughts with me or with Dan in other ways if you like, whenever you like, as we work to celebrate Jill’s leadership and to continue offering meaningful, engaging, and effective children’s faith development programs in our community.
I hope that you’re all enjoying the warm weather and the crazy mud!
In faith and love,
